The Day Lily's name alludes to its flowers that generally last only 24 hours with dead flowers possibly replaced on the same stalk the following day. This is a clumping plant with long leaves. Often referred to as the "perfect" perennial, the Day Lily is adaptable to many soil types, drought tolerant and needs little maintenance. An established Day Lily can produce over 250 13-15cm sized flowers during its flowering season. This plant makes a beautiful border or grouping, but spacing at 40-50cm is preferable and these may need to be thinned after a few years.
