Bird of Paradise is an evergreen plant of the legume family. It is a striking ornamental plant that has long lasting large flowers that can be used for floral arrangements. Its large leaves maker it very useful as a screening plant or as a wind break
The Bird of Paradise is a very hardy plant for Australian conditions and is frost tolerant when the plant is mature. The bird of paradise is also an extremely drought hardy plant requiring minimal care once established.
The bright orange and blue flowers rise up from within a clump of deep green banana leaf like foliage ,and provide a great contrast when placed against rendered wall, in planter boxes or as a border plant. With very few problems, and requiring cutting back as infrequently as bi-annually, there is a reason why this plant has been so popular for so long with Aussie gardeners.
