This fast growing tree is a great feature or canopy tree. Growing to 20 meters and being quite tolerant to poor soil conditions, this makes a great tree for the backyard. The Silver Birch’s leaves are quite petit and spaced apart, allowing light to pass through to other plants to live under the canopy of the silver birch. Its smooth white trunk is a feature unto it self during winter when it the silver birch will have dropped it’s leaves. The leaf litter is a great to use in any compost due to the speed at which the leave de compose.
