The umbrella tree is an ornamental and fast growing native to northern Queensland and is known to attract birds due to the unique look of the deep green leaf groups.
Schefflera Actinophylla has bright red flowers, borne on groups of long spikes and most commonly grown in rain forests, but has been known to adapt to most climates.
The umbrella tree thrives in a moist shaded position, but also does very well in a dunny spot as long as it is not left to dry out.
Mulch well and fertilize with a general purpose slow release fertilizer or compost in early spring.
